The Meyer Family
Their Story
Deidra Meyer, a 39-year-old wife and mother of two — and one of the kindest, most joyful people you could ever meet — was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (brain cancer) in early March. This devastating news turned Deidra and her family’s world upside down. Shortly after beginning chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she suffered a stroke and underwent an emergency craniectomy, adding even more challenges to her journey. For more than seven weeks, she faced intensive medical care and rehabilitation in Marshfield, Wisconsin, all while continuing to bravely battle cancer.
Throughout those long seven weeks in the hospital, her husband, Waylon, rarely left her side. He has been her constant support, advocate, and primary caregiver through every step of this difficult journey. During that time, Waylon’s mom, Lori, lovingly cared for their girls at home so he could remain by Deidra’s side and focus on her care.
Deidra is finally back home now, and her family and friends are working to raise funds to help cover medical expenses, daily living costs, and alternative cancer treatments to give Deidra every possible chance in this fight.
Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Deidra — even briefly — knows she is truly one of the kindest, most genuine, and happiest people you could ever meet. It’s impossible not to smile when you see Deidra smile. She has always been someone who would do anything for the people she loves, and now she needs our support.
